Every Tuesday, the True Tiger Network (our student chapter of MAA) shines a spotlight on an exceptional member — which, with more than 3,000 active members, can be pretty difficult to narrow down to just one.
For a look at previous honorees, check out @TrueTigers on Facebook.
Today, the #TrueTigerTuesday spotlight found Lindsey Robinson, a junior studying science and agricultural journalism from Wellsville, Missouri.
🐯: What event defines your Mizzou career so far?
Lindsey: Tiger Walk my freshman year is probably the best description of my time so far here at Mizzou. I grew up in a family full of Mizzou alumni that bleed black and gold. Running through the columns my freshman year was like finding home for the second time. Every day since then I’ve only found more reasons to love this university.
🐯: If you had $1,000,000 to give to support Mizzou, what would you do with it?
Lindsey: If I had a million dollars to invest in Mizzou, I would use it to create a program teaching more people about agriculture and food security. As an agricultural journalism major, I’m asked a lot about what it is I even do. Agriculture is a large and diverse sector and one that is so important for people to understand because it produces our food. I’d use the program as a platform to discuss issues surrounding food waste, insecurity, and unhealthy eating, all issues that can affect everyone.
🐯: What advice do you have for your fellow True Tigers?
Lindsey: The clock face of Memorial Union displays the words “Walk in Wisdom, Redeeming the Time.” I think those words are probably the best advice I can give to any other student. As a junior with only a few semesters left, I can attest to how fast the time goes. And so far, I only regret the things I haven’t done and the classes I haven’t taken. Take risks, look for things outside your comfort zone, and enjoy your time!
(Tuesday is a big day for our True Tiger Network members online and on campus — today, they made the rounds with the #TrueTigerTaxi, using our MAA golf cart to give fellow True Tiger Network members a lift to class.)
